Four days on the road. I’m on the East side of Oahu, in Kailua. I woke up to the smell of plumeria, the sound of waves, and a lot of swaying emotions. I drove for an hour in my rented convertible Jeep to a beach that sounded nice (another dream I will not downplay: driving alone to an unknown place in a convertible Jeep). I will never forget walking up the slight hill from the street to the beach in Kailua. This is one of the most beautiful places in the world, and I have just seen it for the first time. I am longing to train my beginner’s mind. Riding along in my day bag is little cheesy. It is still morning, and the sun is just making its way up around the palm trees on Kailua Beach, just North of Lanikai. I warm with a walk from one end of the shore to the other, sit down, listen to my breath, and start my day. Paradise in my heart.
